08/26/2025 10pm GP&E Weather Update:

TL;DR

THERE WILL BE WEATHER TODAY.

Black Rock City was hit by a mild rain event starting at 5 pm that is still ongoing. As a result, all traffic on Playa has been stopped. Gate has been closed since 5 pm and will remain closed until at least 6 am tomorrow. Perimeter, Point 1, Lighthouse and TOC will be continuing all shifts as usual – please report to the Black Hole for Transpo.
All graveyard shifts for Gate Ops: (Apex, D-Lot, Exit Lane, Gate Lanes, Will Call Lot) are canceled. If you are interested in volunteering regardless of the weather, please watch your email. The Gate could potentially open sooner and we will need volunteers. If you have a radio, please leave it on the GPE Sleep channel so we can reach you directly.
At this point the 6 am shift is planned to proceed as usual. If you can not make it to the Black Hole due to playa conditions, please let us know ASAP.  We’re expecting ingress traffic tomorrow and it would be very helpful if you could come to the 6 am shift if you had originally been scheduled for the graveyard shift tonight.
